Definitely Dylan Live - 12 May 2019

May 12, 2019 in Definitely Dylan Live

This week on Definitely Dylan Live, Laura is again joined by Robert Chaney, and together they discuss which Dylan albums they gravitate towards in springtime, before zooming in on Dylan’s 2001 album “Love & Theft” and discussing its sinister undercurrent.

Again, here’s the link to Scott Warmuth’s blog.

(Also, I realised as Sugar Baby was playing that I was wrong when I said Dylan had previously used the lines “I got my back to the sun because the light is too intense” in the song Dreaming Of You. They can of course instead be found in the glorious early version of Can’t Wait (the one in Bb), but i forgot to mention it on air. - Laura)

Playlist:

  1. Beyond The Horizon

  2. Bye And Bye

  3. Moonlight

  4. Sugar Baby

Definitely Dylan Live - 28 April 2019

April 28, 2019 in Definitely Dylan Live

This week’s Definitely Dylan Live is dedicated to the recent announcement of the release date for “Rolling Thunder Revue: A Bob Dylan Story”, the film by Martin Scorsese that will hit Netflix on the 12 of June! Laura and Robert take this opportunity to speculate wildly about the film and the upcoming CD boxset of 1975 Live recordings (for which, mysteriously, there doesn’t seem to be a link yet, so just take our word for it). There’s plenty to chat about regarding the legendary Rolling Thunder Revue, as well as recent changes to Dylan’s setlist.

Here’s a link to the clip of Larry Charles telling his Bob Dylan story that was mentioned.

(A side note… I really hype up the Definitely Dylan Twitter account in this episode, and I just want to put out a disclaimer: it’s not THAT great, but I do my best. You should follow it. - Laura)

Playlist:

  1. Tonight I’ll Be Staying Here With You (Live in Montreal, Canada, 4/12/75 - Bootleg Series 5)

  2. You’re A Big Girl Now (Live in Fort Collins, CO, 23/5/76 - Hard Rain)

  3. Rumble - Link Wray (snippet)

  4. Cry A While

  5. Dignity (Alternate version)
